This is why I write about the drug war and prisons
I got an email from a nice lady and this is what she said, Mr. Langohr,
I let my grandson read your book on my Kindle, in hopes that it would help him try to get on the right track . . . I'd read it, & all I can say is thank you, thank you, thank you for allowing us to see what things were like in prison. I'm hoping that it will make him think, before he gets into some real trouble!
I'm on a fixed income, and I was wondering if you would please do me the favor of allowing me access to Upon Release ( Roll Call Volume 2 ; I hate to ask, but being on a very fixed income, the truth is, I just don't have it in my budget to get it for him.
God bless you Mr. Langohr, and know that we wish you continued success as an author, & also in your personal life!

Glenn Langohr: In Prison on Drug Charges for 10 Years, Now Author Of 5 Books, Roll Call, Upon Release and the Series, A California Pelican Bay Prison Story
In his drug war novel Roll Call, Glenn Langohr illustrates how the U.S. has made drugs more desirable by making them taboo, which has increased the demand for them, throwing gasoline on Mexican cartel wars, along with breeding gangs in California's prisons.
Glenn
Langohr-Portrayed as B.J in Roll Call
San Clemente, CA (PRWEB) November 30, 2011
“For the last 6 years of my incarceration I woke up at 4 AM every morning to
write, before the on-rush of prison life took over, to finish my drug war novel
Roll
Call.” States Langohr, “I felt compelled to write, to open the eyes of the
community, that the drug war is a spiritual war.”Roll Call, available in print and e-book retailers, follows Glenn Langohr’s path portrayed as B.J.; from being raised by the Angelic mother he is torn from, to becoming a drug dealer, always trying to find a way out of the dark life of an addict.
In another thread the path of three large Mexican cartel members have a hungry quest to obtain U.S. money and delves into how the Sinaloa and Michoacán cartels commit thousands of murders and deceptions for control of the drug trade.
The cartel paths inevitably meet B.J. in Orange County, California leading to a roller coaster ride of excitement through drug smuggling cartels, to street gangs, to outlaw bikers, all trying to get their piece of the action. Add a good detective squeezed out of the loop by an overzealous narcotic detective; a robust prison union trying to call the shots; and a handful of other drug criminals trying to hold on to their conscience; and, you have the perfect recipe for a revolutionary uprising, bound by blood; all leaving the reader wondering, who are the real criminals?
Kirkus Discoveries Nielson Media Review “A Harrowing down-and-dirty depiction of the U.S. War on Drugs, sometimes reminiscent of Soderbergh’s Traffic, by former dealer, California artist Langohr.”
Upon Release from prison, Glenn Langohr finished the sequel to Roll Call, Upon Release, along with A California Pelican Bay Prison Story, Lock Up Diaries and Gladiator. He started Lockdownpublishing to help other prisoners turn their lives around through writing and art. See his u-tube video.

Ex Offender Nation by Evie, my new associate in prison reform
THE TOP TEN REASONS TO "PURGE" RICK SCOTT
| By Evie Litwok | June 14, 2012 |
1. RICK SCOTT PURGES FLORIDA’S VOTER’S RICK SCOTT is purging voters from the SAVE or “Systematic Alien Verification for Entitlements” data base in an effort to suppress the Florida vote.
2. ALL ELECTION SUPERVISORS OPPOSE RICK SCOTT’S ORDER TO PURGE VOTERS
All of Florida’s 67 election supervisors said they will discontinue Rick Scott’s state-directed effort to remove names from the county voter roles.
3. RICK SCOTT BEING SUED BY FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Rick Scott is being sued by the Federal Government over the “voter purge.”
4. RICK SCOTT POLICY’S COST MIDDLE CLASS JOBS
Rick Scott policy decisions include the elimination of thousands of state jobs and major cuts in school spending
5. RICK SCOTT TRIES TO GIVE FLORIDA’S PRISONS TO CORPORATE AMERICA
Rick Scott, the private prison companies and ALEC (the American Legislative Exchange Council) unsuccessfully backed a plan to privatize Florida’s prisons. The corporate takeover would have cost 3,800 jobs and devastated small communities and working families. This was an effort to give private corporations control of the Florida state prison system.
6. RICK SCOTT VETO’S PRISON REFORM MEASURE
Rick Scott veto of HB 177 a hugely- popular reform measure that would have authorized the Department of Justice to create a drug-treatment intensive program for select non-violent offenders that could have saved tax payers tens of thousands of tax dollars by allowing sentencing courts to convert the remaining prison sentence of those prisoners who successfully completed the program into drug offender probation. This program could have resulted in a reduced rate of recidivism among those participating.
7. RICK SCOTT PULLS PLUG ON HIGH-SPEED RAIL PROJECT
Rick Scott dismantled what would have been America’s first major high-speed rail project. Mayor Pam Iorio blasted Scott’s decision for rejecting the $2.4 billion that would have helped finance high-speed rail and brought new life in Florida’s economy. Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio fought to diversity Florida’s transportation network to compete for jobs with other Sun Belt states, attracted more corporate businesses, provided construction jobs, modernize the transportation system and improve the quality of life.
8. On the first day in office, RICK SCOTT SIGNED AN EXECUTIVE ORDER REQUIRING HIS APPROVAL FOR ANY NEW STATE RULES - SHALL WE CALL HIM “KING” SCOTT
Rick Scott sent an email to every agency not under his purview asking them to “voluntarily” consent to his pre-authorization process. Attorney General Pam Bondi denied Scott’s request
9. RICK SCOTT DID NOT OFFER POLICIES TO CREATE JOBS
Rick Scot put $500 million of transportation projects on hold. And he signed an Executive Order to freeze 900 projects bound for approval and hundreds of contracts worth more than $1 million each.
10. RICK SCOTT WAS FORCED TO RESIGN FROM COLUMBIA/HCA AS CHAIRMAN AND CEO
The FBI and IRS investigated Columbia/HCA while Rick Scott was in charge. Most of his money came from that company. Columbia/HCA paid $2 billion in fees, reimbursements and lawsuits. This was considered the largest Medicare and Medicaid fraud settlement in U.S. history. Scott made his money in spite of running a company that committed wide scale fraud. As the head of the company committing the largest Medicare fraud in U.S. history, WE ALLOWED HIM TO BE ELECTED GOVERNOR!

*Spotlight* Roll Call by Glenn Langohr and *Giveaway*
I'm so happy to
welcome our spotlight this week, Glenn Langohr author of Roll Call, A True
Prison Story!! This is a wonderful book and I'm excited to have Roll Call on
Book Review Club. Also as part of this book spotlight Glenn has been kind enough
to give 1 *signed* paperback copy to one of our Book Review Club's lucky
readers. Please see the rafflecopter at the end of the post!!
A true account of the author's drug
dealing past that turned into trumped up organized crime charges over a bad
business deal with the fabricator of Custom Craft Harley
Davidson's.
Another true account of how the corrupt California Prison Union used terror tactics with then Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger relating to the 3 Strikes Law. Harvard lawyer Daniel Morris has since confirmed it with, "A shameful lie."

I'm an obsessive compulsive addict, in recovery,
saved by God's Grace, who researched the U.S War on Drugs so deeply, I met and
did business with Mexican Cartels, outlaw bikers and street gangs until the
criminal justice system interrupted me. From prison, for 10 years I wrote every
morning at 4 AM, before the politics and survival in a variety of California
level 4 prisons took over. Upon my release from prison I married my dream girl
ballerina Sanette, who plays Annette in the sequel to Roll Call, Upon Release.
My vision is to help other prisoners write and publish their art and stories and
God is blessing me in this direction daily with my Lock Up Diaries and other
works
I'm super excited to be spotlighting Glenn Langohr as a tremendous author, not just for his success on his novels but also in his life. To download a Kindle copy of Glenn's book Rollcall on Amazon Click here

This
review is from: ROLL CALL ~ A Prison List (True Prison Story) (Kindle
Edition)
I was very honored to have the author read one of my other
book review and asked if I would also read his. I agreed and it took me a good
three weeks, I read the Kindle version but it is equal to over 700 pages. To say
the least the book is intense. We have all seen movies of what life is like in prison. They pale when compared to this true life account. I must warn you up front the drug addiction, violence, and some sexual content may not be suitable for some readers. This is a step out of my usual type of read. My eyes have been opened. B.J. the main character (the author) has a very bad start in life and soon realizes he and his bother have to be on their own. Unfortunately he finds that selling drugs is the fastest way to make money. I must say as a young teen going to Mexico to make drug connections when he really had no idea what he was doing was quite a brave move but obviously the wrong one. He falls in with a bad crowd including the law who are working both sides of the fence. Makes one see why drugs are such a big problem when the law, the mafia, drug dealers mix. This is a very detailed account of how B.J. progresses into his life of crime. Your heart will be pounding during a big drug deal and the law chasing them down. You feel bad for the kid but know he is doing wrong. His first time in prison is a real eye opener. The crime inside the prison is as bad as it is outside. The racial wars and the hatred one group has for another is very disturbing. I learned a lot of prison language I had never heard before and was shocked right off in the communication system between prisoners. Through all of this you may be a bit overwhelmed but when you see that God has a plan for B.J. what you have hoped for all along it is a story of hope and redemption. This book would be a book to give teens who are starting to get in trouble, I do think with this picture to look at some may mend their ways. Sadly it seems a certain percent of people live to get into the prison system. Just about every emotion and life situation plays into this story. As I said it is a long read so I will not spoil the transformation part of his life it is a time of great happiness when you see the story change for the good. Again, it is graphic in nature do to the places and crimes involved. Thanks Glenn, these truths need to be out in the open and I hope many lives will be turned around by your willingness to share. |
